Role objectives

This role sits within RUN, a key component of the Global IT and Delivery department at GM&T.

The overriding aim of the GM&T Run team is to support the business in achieving GM&Ts commercial operational & gross margin targets through:

  • Ensuring that the key trading and financial reporting applications are available and functioning for the operation of the GM&T deal lifecycle
  • Operational support and maintenance of the key business systems & processes
  • Ownership for DR systems and processes
    • Clear and consistent reporting of teams performance
    • Control & maintenance of business data across all systems
    • Providing a mechanism through which:
  • Rapid solutions are implemented to best achieve market driven opportunities
  • Continuous small enhancements are added to the core systems to enable new capabilities & process improvements

Specifically, the Data Process and Control Team are responsible for:

  • Rationalisation and centralised master data management
  • Ensure a design enabling uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency and accountability over the management and maintenance of master data
  • Continue to address any weaknesses with systems, processes and governance related to the design, management and maintenance of the significant number of master data tables and validation rule sets

We are looking for a proactive and keen problem solver, who has demonstrated root cause analysis and logical decision making in a similar role. Strong interpersonal skills are key, with the role providing support to teams across all areas of the business. Analytical ability to identify trends and interpret complex data streams are vital to the role, as well as the ability to form a clear picture of how data flows through the business. A pragmatic approach is essential working within this dynamic business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Building positive working relationships across the business, in particular with data stewards and owners
  • Ensure established data management processes and procedures are being followed accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare data monitoring reports to identify data quality and completeness issues across the enterprise system landscape
  • Take ownership of data quality exceptions and ensure that these are resolved in line with cross functional and entity data requirements
  • Continuous improvement of processes and procedures, highlighting inefficiencies and recommending and implementing change
  • Active involvement in key projects, ensuring that enterprise data requirements can be met and supported


Skills & Competencies


  • A subject matter expert in data
  • Proactive self-starter, able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously


  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in SQL essential
  • Ability to understand the interrelationship of data across systems and ability to extract and analyse data
  • Outstanding quantitative and analytical thinking capabilities (strong command of MS Excel and Visio)
  • Strong communication skills are essential for interacting at all levels and across business disciplines
  • Willingness to learn and take ownership of completing tasks
  • Ability to solve problems and explain underlying issues to non-technical colleagues


  • A good understanding of operational process, tools and capabilities for supporting data
  • Any experience of master data management a plus
  • Service delivery oriented
  • Experience in data quality and process improvement
  • Experience of extracting data from multiple databases and understanding inter-relationships and mapping criteria
  • Experience of mapping complex data processes with accompanying documentation


  • Degree (or equivalent experience) ideally in a numerate or analytical subject
