Summary:
Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd (GM&T) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gazprom and was formed in 1999 to establish a marketing and trading platform in the UK and Western Europe. Since 2004 GM&T has grown rapidly and now employs approximately 350 people in London, Manchester, Paris and Houston. By exploiting the liberalised energy markets it undertakes wholesale gas trading, retails gas to commercial and large industrial customers and more recently moved into new energy commodities such as LNG, power, oil derivatives and carbon trading.
Reporting to the Lead Developer in the Front Office Trading Analytics team you will be working closely with the business to develop agile and prototype solution using the standard Microsoft technologies. The Front Office Developer will sit in the business working closely with the Operations and Quants team developing and prototyping quick win business solutions.
Your key responsibilities:
- Understand business requirements and do the high level business analysis
- Provide ad hoc technical advice to the front office business team
- Provide agile software solutions and prototypes using Microsoft technologies
- Ensure the Gazprom Development life-cycle and standards are followed
- Hand over all solutions to the IT department for support
- Document all development
The required skills, abilities & experience:
- Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills
- Ability to balance ideal solutions with practical delivery of requirements
- Extensive object oriented analysis and design experience
- Excellent knowledge of design patterns and re-factoring
- Test-Driven Design (TDD) using testing tools NUnit, Mock Objects, etc.
- Enterprise Developer on complex .NET projects or experience of Java 2EE will be considered
- Problem solving techniques
- Analytical thinker
- Business experience in the Energy or Financial trading environment is important
- Knowledge of VBA and Excel programming

Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent qualification), ideally in a numerate or computing related subject OR, equivalent business/working experience
- Background in Mathematics will also be advantageous
