Singapore & London – Gazprom Marketing & Trading (GM&T) today announced that Jon Larsen will succeed Medan Abdullah as managing director (MD) of its Singapore subsidiary, Gazprom Marketing & Trading Singapore (GM&TS).

His appointment begins on 8 August 2016.

Larsen was previously Executive Director of Oil and LPG, based in GM&T’s London headquarters where he was responsible for the company’s physical and financial light-end oil products, liquefied petroleum gas and foreign exchange trading businesses. Larsen left GM&T in December 2015 and now returns to head the Singapore office in its next phase of growth.

Larsen assumes this role from Abdullah, who has served as GM&TS’ MD since September 2013. Larsen and Abdullah will work together on a handover of business operations and leadership, ensuring GM&TS’ customers and employees remain well-supported during this transition.

Vitaly Vasiliev, CEO of GM&T, comments, “I would like to acknowledge Medan for his contributions to GM&TS these past few years. We benefitted greatly from his wide-ranging industry experience and business network during this time."

“We also congratulate Jon on his new appointment. Our Singapore office will be well placed for future growth with Jon at the helm. He is familiar with GM&T and our businesses and was part of GM&T’s senior management for many years. Coupled with his multi-faceted commercial expertise, operational experience and knowledge of international trade, I believe we have a strong, well-rounded candidate to steer GM&TS through the current dynamic market and continue the growth trajectory of the company."

"This is vital as GM&TS has a critical role within our 24/7 global network, enabling GM&T to support its customers across the globe as well as our parent company, PAO Gazprom, in its strategic intent to expand its international presence.”
