This is a new position within our Global Carbon department. This role will involve responsibility for downstream carbon activity in compliance markets with key focus on East European and South European counterparties and markets. The primary requirement of the role is to identify, negotiate, develop and close new opportunities that will facilitate expansion of GM&T's global carbon business.
The successful candidate will be degree educated (or have equivalent experience), with an excellent understanding of the energy industry with a specific focus on carbon marketing and trading activity. They will also be Bi-lingual in English plus an East European language (preference for Bulgarian, Romanian, Polish or Hungarian). Candidates should be fluent – both written and spoken.

Gazprom Marketing & Trading is the global trading arm of Gazprom, the world’s largest producer of Natural Gas. GM&T is growing extremely rapidly and, in order to support its sustainable growth and success, requires world class trading and risk management systems. It is embarking on a two-year plus programme to implement such a system.
This role is responsible for ensuring that the Risk Management functionality of GM&T trading systems can support GM&T’s current position and long-term growth strategy. The successful candidate will work within the Market Risk team, acting as a key driver of the ETRM programme across all risk management requirements and liaising closely with the Core IT ETRM Programme team. They will need to address the delivery of optimum functionality both within the long term solution and also any necessary interim measures required to support the company’s activities and growth.
We are therefore looking for someone with current or recent experience in a Market Risk environment who has been through the process of (and ideally actively involved in) the implementation of a trading system. Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate risk to IT and vice versa are essential.

It is essential that the successful candidate is able to adapt to changing circumstances and undertake different projects which reflect this. The role will also require aiding and guiding less experienced members of the team on occasion.
We are looking for someone with extensive experience in the European energy regulatory environment (with a focus on gas) and with the ability to quickly understand and assimilate different regulatory regimes, communicating and setting up effective processes in relation to these at all levels of the company whilst not compromising on organisational effectiveness. The ability to speak another European language would also be an advantage.
