GM&T's approach for social responsibility includes the following:
- to involve, motivate and reward our employees
- to interact with our local communities and other important stakeholder groups
- to demonstrate commitment to sound environmental principles
Employee Engagement
We offer competitive reward packages and high levels of employee involvement. In 2008 we conducted an opinion survey among our Kingston staff, which showed high levels of employee satisfaction, as well as pride in and commitment to the business.
We encourage our employees to participate in charitable activities. Last year, a group of employees climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, raising funds for a Tanzanian orphanage.
Community and Sponsorship
In line with our aim to be a responsible local employer we maintain good relationships with our local communities and contribute to several local charities. We have continuously supported a local Russian school, the Mayor of Richmond's charities and the annual "Well Child" Energy Dinner.
Much of what we do as a responsible and innovative energy company is directed towards helping our customers become more energy efficient, reducing their own impact on the environment through services such as smart metering and our carbon business.
